We have 2 exciting opportunities for a Game Designers to join our team. This role is remote/home working. You will be workingon a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £30,000.

About the role:

To strengthen our key objectives of quality, student engagement and scalability, we are seeking to recruit two Game Designers who will support our Virtual Campus Programme as part of our new three-year Education Strategy. The Game Designers will have a strong technical game design background, be used to working with Learning Management Systems and be expected to lead on educational game design related to learning design as part of a wider Education Content Design team. The successful candidate will work closely in a team of 3 Learning Designers, 3 Digital Designers and 2 Education Game Developers. Each Game Designer will be associated with one or more pilot programmes of work with a focus on content being developed initially for Key Stage 3 Maths (GCSE), Key Stage 2 Primary project based learning and independent learning (Key Stages 2-5).

The successful Game Designers will:

– Have excellent game design skills and capabilities with evidence of previous work on Unity or other platforms
– Experience of developing games for Learning Management Systems
– Have capability to analyse game effectiveness with children and make changes and improvements
– Have worked closely with teams of designers and developers
– Have a good understanding of game design principles and applications
– Have a good understanding about educational experience design
– Work well in teams from different disciplines and backgrounds
– Be able to work remotely with teachers and subject experts
– Have experience of developing virtual and digital experiences (desirable)
– Work closely with the Heads of Faculty, Senior Leaders of Learning to deliver a world class education to all student cohorts (including personalised support requirements)
– Undertake any other work as advised by the Education Programmes Coordinator (Project Manager)

Skills and Qualifications our ideal Game Designers will have:

– Ideally the candidate will be qualified up to Bachelor’s degree level. Design or teaching qualifications would be an advantage
– Excellent game design skills
– Excellent IT and online education skills
– Excellent written and communication skills
– Knowledge of the education sector would be an advantage
– Ability to work well in teams
– Experience of training teachers would be an advantage
– Change and business improvement-focused
– Capability to work effectively in dynamic and changing environments
– Experience of working in the primary, secondary or college sector would be an advantage

Specifically, our Game Designers will have:

– Expertise and experience of development of educational games ideally within education application areas
– Evidence of effective game design work (via portfolio)
– Able to troubleshoot problems and find creative solutions with lasting benefits
– Knowledge of user-interface design and development approaches
– A flexible, highly energetic approach and the ability to thrive in a business with a fast changing, collaborative, delivery culture
– Considerable interpersonal communication skills with the ability to form good relationships
– The ability to work independently where necessary but in a collaborative team environment where appropriate
