Are you able to offer your free time as a Volunteer? If so then this could be the role for you!

We’re looking for experienced Primary and Secondary Teachers with an hour or so to spare each week to help support some of the children of the families who come to Helen & Douglas House.

This rewarding role would provide you with the opportunity to fully engage in a personal learning journey with one of our families. Depending on the needs of the child, you would be able to create bespoke teaching plans to deliver online lessons supporting children to develop their confidence and reach their full potential. This could be helping with homework tasks, reading support, revisiting or enhancing work covered in school or preparing children for new areas of learning. Your professional experience and time could help to nurture a child’s passion for learning and give one of our families some new and exciting learning opportunities amongst their busy and demanding days.

We are looking for commitment of 1 hour or half an hour per week (plus travelling time if not meeting virtually), this could be up to a year or less.

If you are interested in this volunteer role but would like to find out more, we have information evenings about the different roles, these are every six weeks. Please contact us on
