We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Learning Support Tutor committed to ensuring learners fulfil their potential. You will empower students by upskilling them to work in the most effective and efficient ways to reduce and overcome their learning barriers and so maximize their potential both at college and to support them with progression to the next step of their future plans.
Job Purpose: To empower students by upskilling them to work in the most effective and efficient ways to reduce and overcome their learning barriers and so maximize their potential both at college and to support them with progression to the next step of their future plans
? To plan and deliver weekly timetable of sessions for groups of learners who have been identified as having specific learning difficulties or disabilities
? To adopt differentiated and varied teaching and learning strategies
? To take a lead in supporting students from a defined learner group
? To be proactive in the use of students history and access assessment feedback to inform planning and create and regularly review Individual Learning Plans
? To promote, engage and upskill individuals, by identifying, trialling and reviewing with them new and innovative ways of working including use of assistive technologies in order that their learning barriers reduce and independence increases
? To provide information and advice on progression in conjunction with the Careers Team, Tutors and Student Progress Advisors
? To advise and support subject teachers, tutors and LSAs in defining appropriate strategies for individual students
? To participate in peer observation and measure impact of interventions
? To keep up-to-date with relevant SpLD developments
? To contribute to the development and improvement of learning support provision, implementing strategies identified in development plans
? To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as required (see Appendix 4 of the SFCA Teacher Handbook).
? To participate in the College annual appraisal process.
? To assist with training colleagues and participate in the induction and mentoring of new staff to the Learning Support Team
? To be proactive in identifying own personal development opportunities and to participate in college professional training activities, including subject updating and wider relevant curriculum developments.
? To promote and ensure compliance with all college policies and procedures. In particular, to ensure equality of opportunity and the effective application of health and safety procedures.
? To participate in appropriate calendared meetings including Parents’ Evenings, Open Evenings, Enrolment and similar directed events
? Any other duties required by the Principal, which are reasonable within the remit of the post.
