ENsational Tutors Ltd. is looking for a specialist tutor with QTS to work on a 1:1 basis with a girl, aged 14, who has a brain injury due to a car accident when she was seven. You will be supporting her in her English and Maths GCSEs. Evidence suggests that the car accident resulted in a change in her behaviour; she now demonstrates low mood and anxiety, and quite challenging behaviour. She has fallen behind in all subject areas which will be adding to her distress and undoubtedly compounding the behavioural difficulties; often an outward sign of anguish. The focus of the sessions will be English and Maths (GCSEs), however developing a trusting and meaningful relationship may be the priority in the first instance. You must be able to commit to July 2021, ideally longer. Further information below:

Start date: 23rd November 2020 (possibly sooner)

Location: online

Sessions: Two hours in total per day online, with breaks. Monday to Friday DAY TIME. Ideally the same time per day.

Rate: £56-£63 per hour after commission and VAT. You will be self-employed.

To apply for this role you will need:

  • QTS;
  • at least 4 years’ experience teaching English and Maths GCSE;
  • at least 4 years’ experience working with SEN special educational needs;
  • at least 4 years’ experience working with students including challenging behaviour and defiance disorder;
  • a proven record of being able to heighten pupil’s confidence, self-esteem and love of learning;
  • 100% passion for education, commitment, reliability and honesty;
  • to creatively apply differentiated techniques to planning and teaching;
  • excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills;
  • incredible patience;
  • an excellent knowledge of different learning styles and how to utilise these;
  • the ability to deal with possible behaviour issues;
  • the ability to work flexibly and attend meetings outside hours if necessary;
  • to be a team-worker;
  • a valid enhanced DBS check;
  • a willingness to apply for public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

You will need to:

  • plan and prepare lessons in accordance to student’s individual needs;
  • assess and monitor pupils’ work and feedback to parents;
  • report and assess pupil behaviour;
  • record students’ progress and provide grades and written feedback;
  • deliver tailored teaching activities to pupils on a one-to-one basis basis;
  • make sure that the pupils that you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity;
  • support and assess the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues as necessary;
  • supervise pupil safety.
