We are proud to be representing one of the UK’s most respected providers of care for people with learning disabilities. Some of the people that need support have needs so great that means they can’t attend a mainstream school . The reasons are wide and varied, for whatever reason they’re now looked after and in our schools, and they need fantastic teachers like you to get involved and help better their lives! It’s a privilege to work with this company and their fantastic achievements turning the lives of people around that may have struggled before!

So what sort of person are they looking for? Would you be surprised if I said caring people!? The role requires someone who has the personal resilience to work in a role like this, yes, it’s time for that classic phrase ‘challenging but rewarding’. The people who’ll be selected for this role will have a student mentality and be willing to go that extra mile (when needed to). Of course as a teacher you’ll be good at communicating, and have a good concept of what high quality SEN education looks like, you’ll have had formal experience and hold your qualifications to teach. You’ll be able to support and encourage the independence of the students in your classroom, you’ll also be able to support and guide Teaching Assistants in your class. Of course, the usual remit of a teacher applies but you’ll be passionate about helping shape the lives of young people with additional/SEN needs.

So you know what they’re looking for in you, why work for this company?
As one of the UK’s most respected providers of care for those with Learning Disabilities they’ll do everything they can to look after you and assist you in your development. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to make an impact. Staff are just as important as the people that are looked after. The company has a strong track record for developing the people they care for and helping them attain goals that some would never have dreamed of.

So, what will you be doing on a day to day basis. In a nutshell every day is varied, that being said it’s worth remembering that many people with Learning Disabilities/SEN like routine in their lives, that doesn’t mean we’re always doing the same thing as it’s encouraged for teacher to create creative, unique and varied educational content to keep students engaged. Stability and routine are the foundations upon which we build relationships with the people in care; where we see them flourish, is in the support you provide by building amazing relationships and getting involved in the lives of people that are looked after whilst at school

Independence and Empowerment are key for this role. The same as we’d want for ourselves or someone that we care about.

As much as you’ll provide support, support will be provided for you, it’s widely recognised that we wouldn’t be able to support any of the people we do without the support from staff. That’s where YOU come in! Join as a Support Worker, make a difference in not just your own life but someone else’s too, who knows this could be the start of a beautiful career change for you!
