We are looking to recruit full-time Trainee PWPs on a fixed term 1 year contract with potential opportunities for substantive roles upon completion of training.

Successful applicants will attend the Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies for 2 days a week at the University of Surrey in Guildford, and work in service the remainder of the week. The university programme is a hybrid delivery of primarily online teaching plus 4 – 5 Face to Face days on the Guildford campus. The course has received full accreditation by the British Psychological Society (BPS). The course is due to start in May 2022, the exact start date can be confirmed at interview.

During your training year, trainees will work at Step 2 level:

  • conducting assessments and delivering high volume, low intensity treatment interventions based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • offer guided self-help interventions to clients with mild/moderate anxiety and/or depression.
  • interventions will be conducted over the telephone, online, Face to Face or via groups.
  • accept and screen referrals
  • provide call handling cover in a busy, shared environment.

We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate your commitment to providing high quality care and psychological treatment at Step 2 within an IAPT service. Before applying, please ensure that you can meet the minimum criteria, as below:

  • degree in Psychology or Mental Health Qualification with experience of working with people with mental health problems.
  • post graduate qualification in a related subject would be an advantage.
  • candidates who do not hold a degree, or whose degree is a 2:2 or below, will be required to successfully complete a 1500 word essay prior to starting the course to demonstrate academic ability for Level 6 or Level 7.
  • be enthusiastic, hard working and able to meet specified targets.
  • excellent IT skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • telephone skills will be essential.
  • car driver or a willingness to travel by public transport is essential.

Mind Matters Surrey IAPT services provides psychological treatments between 8.30am – 8.00pm Monday to Thursday and office hours Friday to Saturday. As part of your role, you would be expected to work two late shifts per week 12pm – 8pm. The post holder will be based in the Mind Matters base in Chertsey and required to travel to other various locations in Surrey including; Chertsey, Woking, Guildford, Epsom, Camberley & Redhill.

Interviews will be held on the 27th January and the 2nd February.
